CoVant buys counter-IED training firm A-T Solutions

CoVant, a newly formed private equity partnership, said it has completed its first acquisition, A-T Solutions of Fredericksburg, Va., which specializes in training to counter improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

A-T Solutions was founded in 2002 and provides analytical and training solutions in detecting and defeating IEDs and weapons of mass destruction. CoVant said A-T Solutions can provide about 200 experts in the field of counter-IED training.

No financial terms were provided for the purchase.

CoVant is based in McLean, Va., and was recently founded by former senior executives of Anteon International and CI Capital Partners to focus on the market for defense, homeland security and intelligence. Anteon was purchased by General Dynamics in 2006 and has been renamed General Dynamics Information Technology, a unit of the company.

Former Anteon executive Joseph Kampf is CEO of CoVant, and its board of directors includes former U.S. Defense Secretary William Perry and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retired U.S. Army Gen. Hugh Shelton.
